Alarms and Errors
When any of the following errors occurs, the item(s) of the error(s) and red
Alarm symbols will be displayed on CIW (Control Information Window).
The possible alarms that the CSA may encounter are described in Table 2-4,
and the tab of this table will be Err Sec under ADSL configuration.

Table 2-4 Alarm descriptions
| Item | Description |
| FECS | Forward Error Correction Second: The occurrence of one-second intervals with one or more FEC errors. |
| ES | Errored Second: The occurrence of one-second intervals with one or more CRC-8, LOS, SEF defects, or LPR defects. |
| SES | Severely Errored Second: The occurrence of severely errored seconds (SES).An SES is declared if, during a one-second interval, there are 18 or more CRC-8, LOS, SEF, or LPR defects. |
| LOSS | Loss of Sync Second: The occurrence of one-second intervals with one or more LOS defects. |
| UAS | Unavailable Second: The occurrence of one-second intervals for which the xDSL line is unavailable. The xDSL line becomes unavailable at the onset of 10 contiguous SES, and they shall be included in unavailable time. |
