Modern vehicles produce a huge volume of communication data. When you are analysing a CAN, LIN, SENT or FlexRay bus, locating one specific sensor value among hundreds or thousands of messages can eat up valuable time.
With version 1.49 of the TiePie Multi Channel oscilloscope software, TiePie engineering introduces the Value Extractor I/O. Rather than scrolling through long tables of decoded messages, you simply pick the value you care about and the software pulls it straight out of the bus traffic. That value can then be shown as a waveform, a meter or a table, exactly like any other measured signal.
From Bus Data to a Real Measurement
Capture → Decode → Extract → Measure
Take a pressure sensor that reports over a SENT interface. The oscilloscope captures the SENT signal and decodes the communication, and the Value Extractor then isolates the actual pressure reading from the data stream. Plot it against time and you can immediately see how the sensor reacts when the accelerator pedal is pressed or the engine load changes.
Information that used to be hidden inside a stream of digital messages becomes a clear signal you can measure and analyse.

Built for Automotive Diagnostics and Testing
The Value Extractor works together with the protocol decoders available in Multi Channel:
- CAN, CANopen and J1939
- LIN
- SENT
- FlexRay
- I2C, UART and SPI
- DMX512
Messages can be selected by parameters such as ID, address and read/write information, and extracted values can be converted to the engineering unit you need. The result is a complete workflow inside one measurement environment: electrical signal → protocol → message → parameter → measurement.
What Else Is New in Version 1.49
- New protocol decoders for LIN, SENT, FlexRay and DMX512
- Enhanced filtering of decoded data tables
- Improved data recording and file management
- High-DPI display support
- Various usability and performance improvements

Already Using TiePie Multi Channel?
The Value Extractor is included in the latest software update. Update to version 1.49 and try it with your existing TiePie oscilloscope.
Less time searching through data, more time understanding what the vehicle is doing.
