The FRM220-DS3/E3 Fiber Modem Card is a versatile and high-performance solution designed to extend DS3, E3, or STS-1 transmissions over optical fiber, providing seamless, transparent connectivity between remote sites. Capable of utilizing pluggable SFP transceivers at 155Mbps, this card supports both multimode and single-mode fiber links, offering a transmission range of up to 120km. It also supports BiDi (WDM) SFP modules for transmission over a single core fiber, optimizing fiber usage. The DS3/E3 connections use industry-standard BNC connectors for reliable coaxial cable transmission. When deployed in a single-slot chassis, the card allows for easy configuration through DIP switches or a user-friendly terminal interface for advanced setup, monitoring, and diagnostic loopback functions. The embedded operations channel (EOC) enables in-band management for remote modem control over an active fiber link. For centralized management, when placed in the FRM220 rack with NMC, administrators can monitor and configure the local and remote converter cards, view fiber link status, and receive alarms for seamless operational oversight.
