Our latest 5 kW liquid-cooled Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is designed to meet the growing demand for DC power in military vehicles operating in idle modes. The unit complies with MIL-STD-810F requirements for wheeled and tracked armored vehicles and can charge Li-Ion batteries in ON/OFF mode for extended silent watch operations.

The power pack can be installed under armor or integrated into an enclosure for external mounting. For low-noise or underwater applications, the engine and generator can be housed in a sealed enclosure. The radiator can be located remotely or shared with the main engine’s cooling system. Its compact size allows easy integration within existing vehicle space constraints.

The APU features a 5 kW liquid-cooled permanent magnet (PM) alternator designed by MLS, coupled to a 2-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine. Voltage is regulated by varying engine speed, and the alternator rotor is integrated into the engine flywheel, eliminating the need for additional bearings. The direct-drive alternator is fully sealed and cooled by the engine’s coolant.

A remote digital control panel with LCD display and CANbus capability allows full monitoring and control of the APU, including power output and fault diagnostics. The system incorporates multiple protections, including reverse polarity, overvoltage, overcurrent, and overspeed safeguards.
