The 10 kW Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) from Marvin Land Systems is the world’s shortest-height water-cooled APU in its category, specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of the Abrams M1A2 main battle tank. As part of the SEPV3 (System Enhanced Package) configuration, the unit has successfully passed qualification testing at the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) and is now in full-rate production, with over 350 units scheduled for delivery.
This low-profile APU delivers 10 kW output power at 28 VDC using a customized water-cooled Hatz single-cylinder direct injection engine paired with a 28 VDC brushless permanent magnet generator. Featuring CANbus communication and an advanced Electronic Control Module (ECM), the system offers built-in diagnostics, prognostics, fault prevention, and recovery functions. Compact and efficient, the 10 kW APU provides reliable auxiliary power while maintaining a gross dry weight of less than 190 kg.
